Another #100dayproject just completed! This time my theme was #100daysofbeachfinds incorporating a beach walk/clean to collect the source material then a daily drawing of some of those finds. Man-made & natural items combined to create a collection of postcard sized images.
I have recently completed a really inspiring course of experimental painting with artist Dan Pyne at the Newlyn School of Art. Exploring surface textures, paint effects & unique surfaces with alternative materials has given me a plethora of new ideas! I am looking forward to creating new artwork incorporating some of these techniques.
After a three day course with Hilary Jean Gibson, through the St Ives School of Painting, I created a sketchbook of observations made at the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden. Here I am sharing some of the pages & ideas.
I thought I would document my design process for a new collection of jewellery which has been several years in the making. Creating the 'master' patterns from metal which will be reproduced using the lost wax casting process.
The oak project or 'Lightening Dancer' is a project I worked on with artist James Eddy at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. This involved the creation of over 500 copper oak leaves which are now on permanent display in the Stewards House within the garden.
A link to 'A day in the life of a metalworker' article by photographer Rick Davy who visited my St Ives garden studio in December last year. Beautiful images created on film for the @cornishlives project.
In October we continued with the #365dailycreate project with some mark making with natural objects. Diluted ink was applied with various found objects made into 'brushes'.
