Inspired by RUST
I thought I would share some of my inspirations in this post…
There are certain things which draw my eye when out & about, one of those things is RUST!
Rusty surfaces such as boats, signs, railings, pillars, old machinery often have decayed surfaces especially here in Cornwall where the salty sea air can accelerate the break down of metals.
This subject is now forming the basis for a new body of artwork which I will be exhibiting for the first time during the September Festival in our gallery in St Ives & further works at ‘Exploring Alchemy’ exhibition, St Ives Arts Club in October.
I am constantly taking photographs, noticing the details, colours, textures & patterns around me. My phone is rather full of images but I do print out a selection if I want to keep a record of a particular idea.
These images could be artworks themselves. The composition is an ideal starting point for a painting or textured artworks.
EXCITING NEWS….
Later this month I will be joining the other creatives at the Sloop Studios here in St Ives.
I’ve been searching for additional studio space for a while now to separate the jewellery/metalwork element of my work from the painting/artwork which was requiring more space. To have a central location within the town is a great opportunity. This is obviously close to our gallery space & Back Road Artworks too!
Initially I need a little time to get the space organised & ready to work in & then I will be there creating new artwork & available to discuss commissions etc. I’m looking forward to being part of the community there & hope to create an interesting & inspiring workspace.
