A one off metalwork creation inspired by the Cornish coast made by Sharon McSwiney in St Ives, Cornwall.
A metal seahorse has been soldered onto a brass background with decorative copper seaweed & a little starfish. The pieces have been etched which creates the surface details. Also embossing is utilised to make the raised 'bubbles'. The pieces are individually silver soldered onto the brass back plate to contrast the colours. Flux and heat create the interesting colour variations & acrylic the verdigris effects. The piece has been lacquered to highlight the colours & protect the surface.
The metalwork is mounted into an open deep 'tray'style white frame which can be freestanding or wall mounted.
The frame is 19.5cm x 19.5cm & 3.5cm deep. The piece is signed & dated on the reverse & initialed on the front. This is 'Seahorse 22-16'
