A sunny afternoon of coastal inspiration

During these strange times we have been making the most of any sunny days (unfortunately few & far between....) to get out & enjoy the Cornish coast.  As we are lucky enough to live in St Ives we have lots of options for different routes to take...we can go inland & get spectacular views from Rosewall Hill nearby or along the coast path in different directions.  We have tracked a walk into town taking in all of the beaches which covers our 10000 steps!

Yesterday the sun was shining so we thought we would go a little further than usual.  Carbis Bay has been a nice walk several times recently however we decided to go a little way around the coast to Porthkidney sands.  We have of course been several times before but usually by car (parking at Lelant).

There are a couple of pathways to choose & we went the upper route which turned out to be rather muddy!!! The views were incredible though so well worth the effort.  Our return trip was the lower path which was much less up & down (remember that next time) & we made our way back home via Carbis Bay & St Ives town centre.

By the time we arrived home it ha been pretty much a 7 mile trip - my legs were aching & I needed a cup of tea! What a lovely way to spend an afternoon though & photograph all those wonderful colours...inspiration for future paintings.
